Officials have identified the pilot who crashed his small plane in the Talladega National Forest in northeastern Alabama as 21-year-old John Lawrence Gilbert Jr.Cleburne County Coroner Rudy Rooks says Gilbert, of Pell City, likely died of blunt force trauma from the wreck. An autopsy is being performed.

Officials say a small plane crashed in northeastern Alabama in the Talladega National Forest, killing one person aboard.Cleburne County Director of Emergency Management Steve Swafford says the wreckage was found Friday afternoon about two miles north of Heflin, which is about 70 miles east of Birmingham.
