A manufacturer specializing in technology to help increase oil and gas production plans to build a $15 million plant in Van Buren, employing about 50 workers by the summer.Oxane Materials Inc. says it plans to expand the plant through 2014, with an expected total investment of $32 million and additional employment of up to 300 workers.
LITTLE ROCK
A Salvation Army worker was shot and killed Christmas Eve in front of his three young children during an attempted robbery outside the charity's community center in North Little Rock, a Salvation Army official said Friday.North Little Rock police said they were looking for the two men who accosted Salvation Army Maj. Philip Wise outside the community center about 4:15 p.m. Thursday. No arrests have been made.

Arkansas police are looking for two men who shot and killed a Salvation Army major originally from West Virginia in front of his three young children outside the organization's community center in North Little Rock.Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper says two men accosted Philip Wise and his children - ages, 4, 6 and 8 - on Thursday. He says one man pulled a gun, demanded money and then shot Wise.

The makers of a high-speed conveyor machine that also detected metal bits in chicken being processed at a Pine Bluff food plant are being sued in federal court by a woman who was pulled head-first into the the equipment last year.Defendants named in the suit filed Wednesday by Candilynn Cunningham are the British corporation Loma Systems, doing business as Loma-Cintex, and Illinois Tool Works Inc.

A federal judge at Little Rock says he won't issue a restraining order against a former employee of Verizon Wireless who went to work for Allied Wireless Communication Corp.The decision Wednesday by U.S. District Judge James M. Moody came in Verizon's suit against Lewis E. Langston III. Verizon sought a temporary restraining order to keep Langston from disclosing confidential, proprietary trade-secret information that he obtained while he worked for Verizon.
