A Savannah personal injury attorney charged with embezzling nearly $1 million from his law firm's employee pension plan has pleaded guilty to a single count of obstructing a federal investigation.Benjamin Eichholz (IKE-holts) entered his plea in federal court Tuesday after prosecutors agreed to drop remaining charges in a 77-count indictment.

Officials say an Atlanta intersection has reopened, 12 hours after a gasoline tanker truck overturned.Fire officials say an overturned tanker carrying 7,400 gallons of gas tipped over a little after 6:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Fulton Industrial Boulevard and Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in northwest Atlanta.

A Muslim woman is claiming in a federal lawsuit that she was dismissed from the Atlanta Police Department's civilian honor guard because she refused to remove her traditional headscarf.Helen Lane says in a federal lawsuit filed this week that the head of the voluntary guard laughed at her when she told him she would wear her hijab at a September 2006 funeral. She said she felt "humiliated, hurt and was traumatized" by the laughter.

There's more turmoil for the civil rights organization co-founded by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.In court documents filed Monday, members of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference accuse group leaders of violating the SCLC's constitution by a recent move to unseat its chairman, the Rev. Raleigh Trammell, and its treasurer, the Rev. Spiver Gordon. The removals are pending an internal investigation into alleged mismanagement.

Police in Gwinnett County say three men have been shot during a dispute that began in a Duluth nightclub.Gwinnett County Police spokesman David Schiralli says the three men were involved in a verbal altercation early Tuesday with an unknown person who followed them to the parking lot, where the three were shot.
ATHENS
Police in Athens say a man preparing to rob a convenience store accidentally shot himself.Athens-Clarke police Capt. Clarence Holeman says 19-year-old Michael Anthony Randall Jr. of Athens shot himself above the ankle with a sawed-off shotgun when he tried to pull it out from his coveralls as he approached the store Sunday night.
SNELLVILLE
A Gwinnett County magistrate judge has issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting officials in Snellville from issuing licenses for Sunday alcohol sales.The order issued by Judge Mark A. Lewis comes two weeks after city leaders allowed Sunday liquor-by-the-drink sales in an effort to help struggling restaurants.
ATLANTA
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation says five small Georgia banks have been added to the list of those needing to improve their finances and operations.Institutions on the list released Monday are First Bank of Dalton; Bank of Ellijay; Piedmont Community Bank, Gray; Northwest Georgia Bank, Ringgold; and High Trust Bank, Stockbridge.
