A former Wichita police officer who's now CEO of an Olathe company is on a three-year mission to raise awareness of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.Lawrence resident Harry Herington rode his big blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the capitols of seven states this year, including Kansas and Missouri. At each he and employees of his company, NIC Inc., donated $1,000 to local chapters of Concerns of Police Survivors - or COPS.

Identical twins Bill and Bob Fleming look so much alike, even their own family members can't tell them apart."The other day, I was waiting for my brother to gather up his gear to go hunting down in Madison, Kansas," recalls Bill, of Lawrence. "His whole family was there in the kitchen, and he was in another room getting ready. His (15 year-old) daughter walked in to get breakfast. After talking to everybody for a while, she turned to her mother and said, 'You know, he sure sounds a lot like Uncle Bill today' ... not realizing that I was, in fact, Uncle Bill. And that's his own daughter!"

Four decades ago, Dennis Medina's knowledge of Dwight Eisenhower comprised watching his 1953 inaugural festivities on television and reading newspaper stories about his presidential visits to Colorado, where Medina lived at the time. That was it.Medina will retire next month as the curator of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum knowing much more about the 34th president.

Kansas transportation officials have reopened Interstate 70 and several other roads.Kansas Department of Transportation 511 assistant coordinator Chris Hess says officials also have reopened closed stretches of Kansas 27, U.S. 36 and U.S. 40.

Kansas transportation officials have closed Interstate 70 from around Goodland to the Colorado border.The Kansas Turnpike Authority says I-70 is closed in Sherman County.
