Maine energy officials say the state's average heating oil price has risen 3 cents per gallon since last week.The Governor's Office of Energy Independence and Security said Monday its weekly survey showed the statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil to be $2.60 per gallon, up 3 cents.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Old Orchard Beach police have identified a body found last month in a town park.Police say 46-year-old David Cox of Needham, Mass., was staying at a family cottage in Ocean Park, and died from natural causes while on a walk on the night of Nov. 25.
PORTLAND
The Maine Red Claws say forward Bill Walker has been recalled by the Boston Celtics.The 6-foot-6 Walker appeared in nine games for the NBA Development League team and was averaging a team-high 17.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. In his last game for the Red Claws against Fort Wayne, Walker scored a season-high 33 points.

About 150 Maine National Guard soldiers are home for the holidays before heading off for a year in Afghanistan.The soldiers with a Brewer-based company were bused home to Maine with the help of a donation of almost $13,000 from Maine authors Stephen King and his wife Tabitha.

With more than 7,000 Mainers already in default on their mortgages, the state is boosting the number counselors to help homeowners avoid foreclosures.The Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection says it's working to add four nonprofit licensing agencies to the two now under contract, with the goal of adding at least six certified counselors statewide.
PORTLAND
Christmas came three days early at a Goodwill store in Maine's largest city.An anonymous man dressed in a Santa suit handed out envelopes containing $100 each to 100 unsuspecting shoppers Tuesday evening at the store in Portland.

A group that wants to build a casino in western Maine says it will deliver more than 100,000 signatures to election officials Tuesday to force a statewide referendum next fall.Black Bear Entertainment LLC wants to build what it calls a four-season casino and resort in Oxford.

A retired Maine businessman thought he was helping the local economy in 2005 when he spent more than $100,000 in Portland on repairs to his 72-foot luxury yacht, newly purchased in Florida. Now he's feeling cheated.More than a year later, Tom Toye III received a $60,000 bill from Maine Revenue Services for so-called "use taxes" on the boat.
