OregonSANDY
A section of U.S. 26 east of Portland - nicknamed "Blood Alley" because of its many fatal crashes - has become much safer since a cable barrier was installed in the median.In the six years before the barrier's installation, 69 percent of crashes along that stretch of road between Sandy and Government Camp left at least one person injured, Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Dave Thompson said.
ALBANY
A teddy bear placed at the front door of the Oregon State Police office in Albany proved to be as harmless as a teddy bear. Employees arriving for work Monday thought it might be a bomb. They evacuated the building, cleared the front parking lot of cars and called in the agency's bomb unit.An X-ray image showed there were nothing dangerous inside the bear.
HARRISBURG
Police arrested a man accused of robbing the same Harrisburg bar in which he had been drinking. Sheriff Tim Mueller of Linn County said the man had been drinking at MacEnzi's Bar and Grill on Saturday. He left around 10 p.m., but came back about 25 minutes later with a beanie pulled over his face.He allegedly grabbed a bank bag, pushed the bartender and fled.

ROSEBURG
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a worker died in an accident at a Roseburg lumber mill.According to spokesman Dwes Hutson, 39-year-old Holger Fussell of Winston was found severely injured beneath a lumber stacker at Douglas County Forest Products.
COQUILLE
A Coos County jury found a North Bend man guilty of raping a teenage girl multiple times during an eight-month period in 2008 and 2009.The jury also convicted Kenneth Moore of attempting to elude police and reckless driving. Those charges stemmed from the effort to arrest Moore on May 20. The car chase started in North Bend and ended just west of Coquille.
BANDON
The Port of Bandon and Pacific Seafood Group have agreed to try mediation to settle their differences.If mediation fails, the port can resume its lawsuit that had been scheduled to go before a jury on Jan. 12 in Coquille.
SUTHERLIN
A 66-year-old man died late Monday when his car drove off the side of Highway 138 West northwest of Sutherlin.State Police say the accident may have been caused by a medical problem suffered by the driver before the crash. The victim was alone and safety restraints had been used.
