On Tuesday, Clay County Sheriff, Rick Beseler, met with a crew from the popular Fox TV show 'America's Most Wanted' in preparation for Saturday night’s airing, which will feature Somer's story.
A task force has now been created to search for Somer’s murderer. In addition, a reward from the Justice Coalition and Crime Stoppers for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of her killer has been increased to $45,000.
Mary Justino, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said “The task force still includes agents from the FBI, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and U.S. Marshals, who have committed to remaining part of our team until Somer’s killer is caught.”
Justino noted that no one is currently in custody for the crime and no persons of interest have been named.
Donations for the reward offered are being accepted by both CrimeStoppers, at (866) 845-TIPS, and by the Justice Coalition, at (904) 783-6312.
