With the MX2 World Championship title safely in his pocket, KTM's French rider Marvin Musquin thrilled home crowds on the opening night of the Paris Supercross de Bercy on Friday to finish third behind two Americans James Stuart and Justin Brayton

Moving into the unfamiliar indoors atmosphere after conquering some of the world's toughest outdoor tracks this season, the young KTM factory rider could count the third place as a positive result. He was the only rider in the field on a 250 SX machine, while the two leaders were onboard the bigger 450's.

In fact Musquin was in second place in the opening race behind Stuart when it was red flagged because of an accident. He was a well placed fourth out of the start gates when the race was re-started to finally finish third on the podium.

Marvin has two more chances to score a good result in the three day competition. Competitors tackle the indoor track again on Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon. The ultimate winner will be crowned King of Bercy.

Paris Bercy Results Day One
1. James Stuart, USA, Yamaha
2. Justin Brayton USA, Yamaha
3. Marvin Musquin, France, KTM
4. Gregory Aranda, France, Kawasaki
5. Fabien Izoird, France, Suzuki
