At about 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning, another suspect was arrested in connection with the Oct. 24 gang rape of a teenage girl in Richmond, California.

The 21-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, is being held on a $1.2 million arrest warrant, according to the Contra Costa Times. According to Lt. Mark Gagan, “He is suspected of committing several felonies.”

Eighteen-year-old Jose Carlos Montano was arrested last week and is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon. He is charged with rape using a foreign object and gang rape.

Four other suspects were arraigned last week for the brutal attack on the 15-year-old victim. Cody Ray Smith, 15; Ari Morales, 16; Marcelles Peter, 17; and Manuel Ortega, 19, are scheduled to return to court Thursday.

Each man charged has been given no, or extremely high bail, and could face life in prison if convicted.

The victim was attacked at about 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, after she left the Richmond High School homecoming to call her father for a ride home. She was lured to an area where several males were drinking. She became drunk and refused to have sex with the males—which was when the over 2-hour beating and rape began.

The victim has left the hospital and the Contra Costa Times reports she is receiving an outpouring of support from the public.
