According to a report by Pamela McClintock of Variety on Monday, Fox Star Studios of India, 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight have decided to release a Hindi pic titled "My Name is Khan", starring Bollywood superstar Shah Ruhk Khan worldwide on Valentine's Day weekend in 2010, around the same time the film opens in India.

The film will be the first release from Fox Star Studios and is directed by Karan Johar.  Fox Searchlight and Fox Star is looking for another lightning in the bottle after the success of their 2008 sleeper Oscar-winning hit, "Slumdog Millionaire".  The film will get day and date releases in 40 countries, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Middle East, Australia, New Zeland and South Asian territories, while it will bow in other markets later during the spring and summer.

The storyline centers on a man who embarks on a journey across the U.S. to find his true love.  The dialogue will be presented in English and Hindi.

The project got a dose of publicity back in the summer soon after Fox announced it had obtained the rights when the Bollywood actor was detained at Newark Airport for questioning when British Airways lost his luggage which spawned into an international incident.
