November 6th, 2009 - In surprising news, Tiger Woods is tied atop the leaderboard with Nick Watney at the HSBC World Golf Championship in China. He shot a a five under 67 for the second straight day which included five birdies in the final 10 holes.
First round leader Nick Watney followed up his course record tying 64 with a second round 70 and will be paired in the final group with Woods on Saturday. The top of the leaderboard is filled with Americans as seven of the top nine players are from the United States.
Phil Mickelson, Ryan Moore, and Alvaro Quiros are one off the lead at nine under. After an eagle on 18, Anthony Kim pulled to within three shots of the lead by shooting a second round 69 and is at seven under.
After shooting his own 69 leaving him three shots off the lead, American Pat Perez had some interesting comments about his gallery.
In discussing the fact there were very few people watching his group compared to the ridiculous crowds around Tiger and Mickelson, he laughed and said "It made me realize I'm actually a nobody," Perez said. "I thought I was somebody, but this confirms it. In worldwide golf, I'm a nobody."
The weekend is shaping up as many had hoped, a showdown between Woods and Mickelson, the top two players in the world.

Golf tip of the day:
When playing a fairway bunker shot, solid contact is crucial. Contacting the ball before the sand is essential for hitting it well. Play the ball more towards the middle of your stance and make sure to stand tall through impact. A good way to ensure this is by slightly raising your chin right before starting your backswing.
