Ponte Knit pencil skirt from Speigel.com
The pencil skirt is a hot haute trend for fall. Peruse the racks of many stores and there is nary an A line silhouette in sight—it’s all about this hip skimming number. What’s great is that there are many pencil styles to choose from and so many ways to wear this fashionable trend.
The model in photo above looks tres chic in her ponte knit herringbone skirt from Speigel, paired with belted white shirt, black turtleneck, opaque black toghts and black and white peep toes. Her acessorizing takes the look to another level. See my previous post on ways to accessorize.
Let me count the many ways you can rock the pencil skirt trend! (photos can be viewed in the attached slide show)
The ruched pencil which is great for narrow hipped ladies as the ruching on the side adds curves!! The very affordable choice from Charlette Russe is one to check out. Try with a fitted cropped jacket.
The contoured pencil skirt: Very sexy as this too contours to curvy bodies and those in between for a very figure hugging effect. Check out Guess by Marciano’s Lonzi version. Wear with a sexy top tucked in to amplify the allure factor
The high waist pencil skirt—looks awesome with a skinny belt and is so very Audrey Hepburn. I love the red version from Guess—Pinstripes and pencil skirts go together like bread and butter. Love the feminine touch with the lace hem.
The Textured Pencil—for ladies who want an extra dose of pizzazz, this multi-colored textured skirt with lacy floral overlay with grosgrain ribbon at the waist from Kate Spade is rocking! Pair with a solid top over the skirt untucked and belted with a skinny belt to make it all about the skirt. Skirt from Nordstrom.
The Animal Print Pencil—bring out your inner feline with this leopard jacquard pencil number from Speigel. Love it paired with the black shirt cinched at the waist as shown.
The mini pencil—and even more on trend in plaid like this version from Gap. Great with tights and boots as shown.
The Herribone pencil—taking the classic pattern for a very work appropriate alternative from Banana Republic. Looks smart with a silk ruffle blouse tucked in and accented with a skinny belt.
