Cincinnati Prayer for the Nation group Photo / Harald ZiegerBurdened by the present condition and direction of the nation, interdenominational groups of Christians are beginning to gather in their respective states to call on God for his mercy and grace for America.  Groups in Ohio, Indiana, Florida, Michigan and Pennsylvania gathered this past Saturday, October 31, and plan to continue to gather on the last Saturday of each month in locations that represent the heart of their respective cities.  For example, the Ohio group in Cincinnati gathered on Fountain Square. The groups are praying in agreement for God’s Holy Spirit to cultivate a spirit of repentance in the nation, to bring deliverance to the nation, and to restore it. Though many who are a part of the Prayer for the Nation group are also a part of the Tea Party movement, Prayer for the Nation is not directly affiliated with the Tea Party.

The prayer movement is being organized by Harald Zieger, a German immigrant who came to America with his wife in search of a better quality of life.  Before becoming a Christian, Zieger was very indoctrinated in the communist ways, and he is especially alarmed at what is happening in America, because America is beginning to show signs of what life was like in communist Germany.

When the groups come together, they begin with a brief “corporate” prayer, and then each person has an opportunity to add prayer concerns that God might lay on their heart. Some of the groups are reporting a consistent increase in the number of people who are coming together to pray.
