Steak-n-Shake is one of the last cook to order fast food chains. It specializes in burgers, but differs from other burger restaurants such as McDonald’s or Burger King.

At Steak-n-Shake you are seated at a table and a waitress takes your order and brings everything to you. The Steak-n-Shake menu goes beyond burgers and my favorite taco salad to include a few pasta dishes including chili mac and chicken, and even grilled cheese. They have wonderful shakes--just ask my children.

The only problem I ever have here is that I have found the servers to be typically slow. The food is done, they are just slow to serve and check on tables. This holds true for all four of the Steak-n-Shake locations that are near my house. I don’t know if it is a training problem or just typical of low end restaurants in general, but it does seem to be an across the board problem.

Steak-n-Shake prices are reasonable. In general, I spend about $5.00 per person. That is about what I spend at traditional fast food restaurants, but at Steak-n-Shake, you get table service. With reasonable prices, cooked to order food, and their standard 1950’s diner interior designs, Steak-n-Shake is a winner in my book.
