The folks at Kiolbassa, that San Antonio-based sausage company, are tinkled pink about getting a mention in Gourmet Magazine.

Gourmet asked a cast of eclectic characters to pick their favorite frankfurter.  Among the 15 dogs mentioned that are commercially available -- a few chose sausages that are available in only certain places -- were Hebrew National, Niman Ranch All Beef Fearless Franks and Vienna Beef Franks.

Christine McEntyre, executive director of Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas, put in a good word for Kiolbassa's Sausages.

"We have our annual adopters' reunion in October each year. For the past few years, we have been lucky enough to have Kiolbassa, from San Antonio, donate for the event. So I would have to shamelessly pitch my preference for thsi type of hot dog -- second only to our little four-legged rescued hot dogs!"

Okay, there may have been a little payola involved. But they are pretty good dogs.
