ST. HELENS — As of Nov. 2, the St. Helens Police Department is back to full strength, 19 officers, with the recently announced hire of Officer Stephanie LaVallee.

LaVallee is a former resident of Columbia County, now living in Hillsboro. At the age of 12, she left Columbia County and attended Glencoe High School. She attended Boise State University, graduating with a degree in Social Sciences and Criminology.

“I’m very happy to be back in the community,” said LaVallee. “I’m looking forward to a long career in St. Helens,” she said.

Officer LaVallee will participate in an extensive field training program before attending the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training basic police academy early next year, in Salem.

“When we are looking for recruit police officers, maturity and a strong educational background are extremely desirable. We are very fortunate to have her as a member of this agency,” said Lt. Terry Moss.
