If you have ever thought of going to Puerto Vallarta, you would be hard-pressed to find a better time.   Airfares have plummeted.  You can easily find fares for less than $350 round trip from SFO.

Click here for my recent post for more details on those amazing shrinking airfares.

Puerto Vallarta's most luxurious gay resort, Casa Cupula is owned by San Franciscan Don Pickens.  In a recent e-mail to a gay travel group Don noted that his resort, although doing well, is prepared to make deals.

I pasted what he wrote below.   If you like luxury and want to be pampered, you will fall in love with this resort.  As you might expect, Casa Cupula is the most expensive gay hotel in Puerto Vallarta, but an equivalent resort in the US would run you a lot more.   And if you read Don's note below, he is prepared to deal to fill up his rooms.

And be sure to check out Gay Guide Vallarta when you get in town or online before you go.  It a great guide of all things gay in PV.

Here's Don's posting:

Here at Casa Cupula one of the effects of the challenging economy is that we are doing more to help our guests take a

vacation - at a time when it's most needed!  While we have been quite successful at keeping Casa Cupula well-occupied, and

just had our best December ever, we recognize that many guests are concerned about their economic future and are afraid to

book ahead...we are seeing a lot more last minute bookings.

Here are a few things we're doing to help our guests vacation in PV this year:
- Changed our cancellation policy to allow changes to reservations up to 8 days before for a minimal charge, what we call our

"No Worries" policy
- Or we now offer a 10% discount for reservations in our 'regular" rate periods if you select our "No Refund" option
- Increased the number of our "Last Minute Travel Deals" with discounts up of to 40% (visit www.casacupula. com/reservations

_traveldeals. html).  These Deals vary weekly for the next month of travel.

We haven't spared a drop of the usual luxury, and the weather's spectacular as usual.  The US dollar now buys around 13

pesos, about 25% more than last year, so bargains abound.  For example, Cafe Des'Artistes now offers a 3 course $349 bistro

menu, which at 13:1 is about 27 bucks for a first class meal.  We are definitely seeing other local businesses and airlines

responding to the recession with great deals.  Airfares are back to the lowest in years, for example round-trip from San

Francisco is back to less than US$350.

For more information please visit us at www.casacupula. com. Or write us at reservations@ casacupula. com. We look forward to

your visit!
