President Obama's historic Health Care Reform Bill is set to go to vote on Saturday with the backing of one of America's leading organizations; AARP, who represents 40 million members of American citizens who are aged 50 and over, today publicly announced at a press briefing at the Washington headquarter of AARP, its intention to support President Obama's Health Care Reform Bill. AARP adds it support to that of the American Medical Association.
Reasons for AARP support of the Health Care Reform Bill
AARP represents a section of American citizens who are most vulnerable to health care restrictions, and at the same time probably most in need of health car,e due to lack of money. AARP stated that the current House bill is proposing to do more to increase Medicare and lower drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries. The proposed House bill would also prevent insurance companies from excluding people from health insurance due to age or health.
America's Aging Population
As America's baby boomers enter the later stages of life, health insurance is an option, particularly in today's economy, that many can not afford. Yet, at the same time, older people often require more health care. AARP's endorsement of President Obama's Health Care Reform Bill will be followed by AARP publications for members, advertising, telephone calls and e-mails by AARP in attempt to inform its 40 million members of the new health care proposals.
