The 2009 election has come and gone. Mayor Mike Bloomberg is in for another four years. He won only by a small margin-51% to William Thompson’s 46%. He rallied the City Council to overturn term limits and it left a lot of New Yorkers wondering if our opinions/votes mattered at all. If you recall, term limits were voted in by the good people of New York. So why does this guy come along with all his money, wealth and power to undo what we voted into law? It was put into law by citizens who were tired of the corrupt politicians with their cronyism and nepotism.
When things like this happen, it makes Joe and Jane Citizen feel as if their votes don’t count so why bother even voting at all. This kind of apathy can be disheartening and discouraging.
