When you're looking for Arroz Con Pollo, Paella or Chorizo, where can you go to find one or all of these dishes in one menu? Fortunately, right on Old Country Road in Westbury is a Colombian restaurant called Pollos El Paisa that fits such a bill.

Don't let the diner look fool you and the waiting crowd prevent you from going in. As soon as you walk in, you can opt to eat at the counter, but with the amount of food that will be served to you, you may need a table or two. Another thing to note is that when sitting at the counter, you have a view of a huge rotisserie grill that is constantly roasting heaps of chicken that you can have as your meal.

The menu is pretty extensive since they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you get there for breakfast, Huevos en Caserola con Arepa Grande y Queso (two fried eggs with corn cake and cheese), Arepa Grande con Queso (corn cake with cheese without eggs) and Carne Asada con Arepa Grande y Queso (grilled beef with corn cake and cheese) are great choices.

They do not have lunch specials, but the portions for lunch are just as big as their dinners. Arroz con Pollo is available and delicious, but for serious meat lovers, try Bandeja Paisa (mountain platter with ground or grilled beef, fried egg, beans, pork rinds, sweet plantains, rice, avocado and corn cake), Lomo de Cerdo (grilled pork loin) or Carne Asada (grilled beef). Paella is on the menu as well, but seafood selections like Mojarra Frita (fried porgie), Camarones al Ajillo (shrimp in creamy garlic sauce) and Cazuela de Mariscos (mixed seafood in lobster sauce) are worth trying.

If you are an adventurous eater, you mght want to try Lengua a la Criolla (tongue in tomato sauce) or Frijoles con Garra (beans with pork rinds and fried pork skin). Each entree is served with rice and beans, as well as various side dishes such as green or sweet plantains, steamed cassava or corn cakes.

In keeping with being adventurous their fruit shakes with flavors ranging from papaya, mango, guava, passion fruit and blackberry will complement any entree that you select. For alcoholic options, beer, wine and Sangria are available.

Lest you think that dessert is not an option after all that food, Flan and Brevas con Queso (figs with chees) may convince you to think otherwise.

Pollos El Paisa does not disappoint with their portions nor their prices. You can have dinner there more than once and you would not exhaust the menu options that are offered. Customers are well-tended by the servers and the owner stops by your table to make sure that your dining experience is to your liking. If you're looking for great Colombian food along with great prices and service, Pollos El Paisa is the place to go.
