
Chrysler Group’s October sales of 65,803 vehicles marked an increase of 6 percent over September, but a 30 percent decrease compared with the same month in 2008, the company reported today.
Dodge vehicle sales totaled 26,265 units. Vehicles with sales increases over the previous month were Grand Caravan, up 119 percent; Avenger, up 48 percent; Challenger, up 35 percent; Viper, up 47 percent; Journey, up 23 percent; and Nitro, up 26 percent. Year-over-year increases were posted by the Avenger, 13 percent, and Grand Caravan, 8 percent. Dodge Dakota pickup truck sales increased 29 percent over September.
Chrysler vehicle sales totaled 12,815 units. Sebring sales increased a total of 75 percent over September, with Sebring convertible sales up 77 percent.
The company noted that Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot and Jeep Commander sales rose from September to October, but did not list any numbers or percentages.
The company also noted that it finished October with 159,428 vehicles in inventory, representing a 68-day supply. That is a 60 percent decrease from October 2008, when 395,996 vehicles were waiting to be sold.
