Terror within our borders- the Fort Hood massacre

During World War II, the United State government through an order from President Franklin D. Roosevelt gathered 120,000 Japanese Americans and placed them in internment camps. The fear at the time would be that these Japanese Americans would side with Japan and be enemies of the state. Many look back on this time as a sad time in American history. Most Japanese Americans would never have been a threat and were honest, hard-working citizens.
Undoubtedly this impacted the U.S. response to 9/11. Once it was clear that we were under attack by Islamic extremists we needed to act quickly to sequester Islamic extremist sympathizers. These people were sent to Guantanamo Bay for evaluation of their potential threat to America. In the politically correct era that we live in, it appears unpopular to profile people based on race, gender, religion, etc. Nevertheless, it appears ridiculous that my 88 year old mother would need to take her shoes off to be x-rayed before boarding a plane. Trust me; she is not going to be the next hijacker. Universal screening is both costly and time consuming. It would make more sense to me that people would be rated for their potential terror threat. A little old lady born and raised in America with not as much as a traffic ticket would be a very low risk and need little scrutiny. On the other hand a recent immigrant coming back from an Al Qaeda training camp would be at the top of the high risk list. This just makes common sense and allows for proper allocation of homestead security funds.
So how is it that the massacre at Fort Hood came to be? Major Hasan was an American child of immigrant Palestinian parents from an area close to Jerusalem. His college, Medical school and residency were paid for by the US government to the tune of $500,000. By the way that is your and my tax dollars. He joined the military prior to 9/11. He never agreed with the wars in the Middle East, made it clear to those around him that he didn't want to be deployed to Afghanistan, and his unusual behavior and statements were allegedly passed on to his superiors. According to Yahoo news,
Nothing evidently was done in time to investigate, and ultimately discover the true Extremist terrorist that he was before he open fired on Fort Hood soldiers killing 13 and injuring over 30. He could have escaped to Mexico if he didn't want to go to war. However, he instead chose to level his anger at innocent American soldiers serving our country.
"Soldiers reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" - an Arabic phrase for "God is great!" - before opening fire, said Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, the base commander."
So it wasn't a fear of war that motivated him as he himself was the source of much grief, shame and bloodshed. Even his family is in shock and calls these acts despicable.
Does this make sense? You are either pro-America or Anti-America. Perhaps it is time that we ask people what side they are on. There is a war going on and we need to know. Do we want people to reside inside our borders that sympathize with the enemy and celebrate American deaths? How can we distinguish these people from those who will strap on bombs and kill Americans? Perhaps it is time to ask them to leave the country. When did our being politically correct suddenly become an asset to our enemies? It is one thing to disagree with the war in theory and try to convince the country to change its path, but it is quite another thing to side with those that want to kill Americans. Perhaps we don't need the internment camps that we had after World War II, but we should know who is pro-America, and who is anti-American. At least then we will know who we need to diligently watch within our borders, and hopefully prevent the sad attack that occurred yesterday.
