Helmet or no? Still your choice in Illinois

Good news for those riders who want to retain the freedom to make thier own choices in motorcycle protective gear.

The Illinois Senate voted on SB 1351, which would have mandated the use of helmets for motorcyclists in Illinois. The final vote was 49-14 with one member abstaining.

From their calls, emails, letters, and by way of motorcycle rights groups, Illinois bikers sent a clear message to Senators all over the state as to their opposition of this bill for mandatory helmet use for all motorcyclists.

ABATE of Illinois was present at all hearings and committee  and at the final vote making its presence and position known.

The defeat of this bill a major victoryfor those who oppose mandatory helmet laws.  In previous years, bills such as these did not make it out of committee to final vote.
