You would think that to be a top Elite leader you have wisdom, integrity, and intellect. However, it seems that the higher it goes up the ladder the less common sense is required and the more corruption occurs.
The Elite in charge show they have no clue when it comes to balancing a simple budget. Funds are misappropriated and mismanaged and their solution is to just raise taxes. Why can't they just work with what they have in the budget?
They spend more than they have, then have to figure out how to pay for it. They either can't handle simple math or their accountants have gotten their degree from Cracker Jack University. Imagine if we ran our households the same way. The difference is we have no way to raise taxes for revenue. Not unless we're going to charge our spouse and children the increase.
They make dumb decisions. RPI College in Troy cut 100 jobs and scaled back some programs because of budget problems, but determined it important to hire singer Aretha Franklin and violinist Joshua Bell for pep rallies. That'll certainly help morale.
Governor Paterson made a valiant effort to cut the State budget $3 billion and at one time threatened job layoffs to reign in on State waste to meet the budget. Cuts are being proposed for schools and local municipalities to lighten the State burden. But what the public doesn't realize is that when the State cut funds to local counties, the burden is put on local government to meet their budget. They're not going to do the obvious thing and adjust their budget, they just they raise property and school taxes. The consequences fall on the public.
On the federal level, while the economy was at a standstill, the Obama administration determined that it should borrow money from the Federal Reserve and bail out banks and private companies. On top of that, they provided a so-called stimulus package. Who pays for it? Obama and his administration? No, the taxpayers. They've just volunteered us for a longterm loan.
So what was the result of this brainstorm idea? The banks were not held accountable and lost track of where the money was spent, so they're requesting more. And the companies bought out by the United States government failed to meet their budget. Their solution? They want more. If a small business ran that way, the State would declare it dissolved. But top Elite leaders making those decisions are balancing budgets. Intelligence must not be a criteria to make these decisions.
The City of Albany has routinely raised property and school taxes because of budget problems and overspending. So how does the Mayor handle it? He has flower pots planted in the median on Everett Road and along Central Ave and builds a beautiful concrete structure on the corner of Everett and Watervliet Ave extension, where a State flag hung upside down for two weeks.
And the corruption that occurs at the top. Former NYS Senate leader Joe Bruno has been accused of receiving money from lobbyists to gain State contracts through his consulting business. He's now facing a corruption trial. Come on, Joe, did you really think you were making wise choices? This is the guy who was Senate majority leader. You'd think he was smart enough to see this coming. But what is his answer? He's not the only one doing it. Well, then we need to investigate the whole bunch of them.
In the meantime us taxpayer are paying for their incompetence. Why don't the Elite leaders have more sense than this? They show no common sense when it comes to fiscal budgets or integrity. They aren't spending their own money, so why be responsible? Well, in a sense they're stealing. They're making taxpayers foot the bill for reckless spending and corrupt actions. And this is not being a good steward of what they're handed. But when we'll keep voting them in, they'll just keep doing the same thing because they don't know any better.
