In Ohio, senior citizens are eligible to audit college courses at many local schools for free. Referred to as Program 60, any person 60 and older who has been a resident of Ohio for more than 1 year can apply to audit a college course.  This is an enriching option for seniors and elderly in the Cincinnati area.

Seniors auditing college courses do not receive credit toward a degree. Additionally, all classroom expenses including books and lab fees must be covered by the auditing senior.  Acceptance of an application to audit a course is  based on the approval of the instructor in consideration of classroom space and equipment availability.

Seniors interested in auditing courses at Cincinnati State University must fill out a Registration Activity Request available online or at the admissions office. At Miami University only the instructor’s permission is required for courses on the main campus in Oxford. At Miami U Hamilton and Middletown campuses, seniors interested in auditing a particular course must fill out a Senior Citizen Audit Form available at the admissions office. At the University of Cincinnati seniors applying to audit courses must fill out a Basic Data Form and submit it to the Registrar. At Mount St. Joseph applicants must be 65 and older to be eligible for a free senior citizen course audit.
