Dumbo Kite Flying Society. Take the advice of Mary Poppins’s George Banks, and “go fly a kite—up to the highest height.” On the first Saturday of each month, local families converge in Brooklyn Bridge Park to send cloth soarers into the air. Kiteless kids needn’t fret: The society has 80 flyers, all available for borrowing. Brooklyn Bridge Park at 10 AM. All ages. Free.

Chocolate Chip Chamber Music Presents the Sweet Treat Tour at Brooklyn Public Library. Babes who crave the sweet sounds of Mendelssohn and/or the toothsome taste of cookies should attend this free concert by Park Slope–based music group the Sweet Treat Trio. Led by emcee “Baker Bobbie,” the program of brief classical-music selections is followed by hands-on instrument demonstrations. At the end, audience members get to munch on chocolate-chip confections. Ages 2 to 6. 1:00 PM. Free.

Meet the Authors: Randall and Peter de Seve. Your tot will love the delicious food-centric plotline of The Duchess of Whimsy: An Absolutely Delicious Fairy Tale by the star-power husband and wife duo, best-selling author Randall de Seve and New Yorker cover artist Peter de Seve. In the story, the extravagant Duchess of Whimsy falls in love with the ordinary Earl of Norm after he makes her a tasty grilled cheese sandwich. 18th Annual Quilt Show: Sewing the Threads of New York: The 400 Year Anniversary of Henry Hudson's Voyage draws inspiration from Hudson's journey across the sea, the river valley landscape, and from the people the voyagers encountered. 12-4 PM. Lefferts Historic House. There is also a Quilt Show Workshop from 1:30 to 3:30. Both are free.
