One of the area's premier races is this week's race pick of the weekend: The Stockade-athon. This year marks the 34th running of the annual Stockade-athon, a 15K road race in Schenectady. According to the event web site, the Stockade-athon is "popularly recognized as the oldest "major" 15K road race in the USA."
Starting on Central Parkway, the course winds through Central Park and then out onto neighborhood streets and thoroughfares, leading runners into the historic Stockade district of the city at mile 4. After exiting the Stockade, runners will tackle the notorious State St. hill before heading into Vale Cemetery at the 10K mark. The route winds its way back to Central Park, leading runners around Iroquois Lake before ending in front of Casino Cafe.

"Last chance" registration will be available at the Healthy Living Expo but there is no day of race registration.
