The UT Men’s Basketball team has been a major player in the SEC since head coach Bruce Pearl took over four years ago. Forward Tyler Smith is back for his senior year to improve on his second round NBA draft projection and his team’s 21-13 record from last year. The Vols open their regular season with back to back home games at Thompson Boling Arena against Austin Peay 11/13/09 at 9:00pm (TV: SportSouth) and UNC Asheville 11/17/09 at 7:00pm (TV: FSN). Tickets are $10, students are free.
Badfish are playing at the Valerium on Novermber 18th. Badfish is a sublime tribute band with a huge, loyal following. They put on a energetic show for all ages and if you like sublime and have never heard Badfish, it’s certainly worth checking out. Tickets are $13 ahead of time, $16 at the door and there is a $3 under 21 surcharge.
Imogen Heap is coming to the Square Room Nov 21 at 9:00pm (8:00 pm doors). Heap is a female singer/songwriter that mixes the melodic heavy production of electronica with elements of folk and rock. She makes emotive, catchy music that has earned her an eclectic international following. Even if you’ve never heard of Imogen Heap, but simply appreciate talented musicians, you’ll love this show. This concert is family friendly and tickets cost $25.
Living legend Bill Cosby is putting on two shows at 3:00pm and 7:00pm on December 6th at Gay Street’s historic Tennessee Theater. Five decades of comic genius will be on stage for one day only, so don’t miss this chance to see a man who has achieved comic gold in just about every media. Ticket prices range from $49-$125.
The Wizard of Oz is coming to the Tennessee Theater! If you’ve never seen the stage version of this classic family film, here is your chance. Oz is at the Tennessee theater with 8:00pm shows on the 11th and 12th of December and a 2:00pm matinee on the 12th. Tickets range from $32-$77.
