Planning a wedding is a stressful job, no matter who you are, and to combat the stress, it sometimes means taking a step back. Here are some of my favorite ways to step away from a stressful situation, escape into something relaxing, and tackle it with new energy.

Get together with friends and have a good time. Go to the movies, out for dinner, out for drinks (please do so responsibly with a designated driver), or get massages together. Even skip the going out part, and get together for a night if silly DVD’s, great munchies, and a bunch of laughs.

Take a bubble bath. Do you remember how much fun bubble baths were as a kid, piling all those bubbles on top of your head or making weird critters out of them? Recapture that fun in an adult way. Run a tub full of bubbles, light some great scented candles, and let your worries slip away as you slip into the water.

Read a book. Mystery, romance, thriller, drama, or a mix of all, reading is a great way to forget your own stress and disappear into another world for a while. And if you are on a tight budget, your local library would be happy to loan a book to you.

Reconnect with your beloved. This can be dinner out or a night in with movies in t shirts. Either way take the time to reconnect with the one you love in a way you both enjoy. Just remember, no wedding talk allowed. We are escaping stress, remember?

Go for a walk. Take your best friend with you, your dog (if you are lucky enough to own one), the love of your life, or just yourself and enjoy the great outdoors. The peace from your surroundings and the exercise will help lower those stress levels in no time, and give your health a boost too.
