But if you're a movie studio exec, you know all about Fred. And you make him an offer he can't refuse.
Lucas Cruikshank, ninth-grader from Nebraska, you're about to become a bona fide star.
The kid who invented Fred (and plays him in the videos) just got an endorsement deal from 20th Century Fox and Walden Media to promote their movie, "City of Ember."
It's a tween flick (based on Jeanne DuPrau's book) about two teens who try to save an underground civilization that is slowly running out of electricity.
If Fred's latest episode — "Fred: A Star in His Own Mind" — works well for the movie studios, there's no telling what's in store for Lucas. He could be out of YouTube and onto the big screen in a Hollywood minute. Or at least getting those residual checks every month.
