If you're just starting out, chose a beach with a rating of Low to build your skills.
Whatever the choice, boasting rights come with each sceaniro because riders have shared in the prestigious waters of world-class champions. Once you've experienced Puerto Rico's surf, the local beaches along the mainland's NE coast will pale in comparison. Flights from the New York/ New Jersey area can be direct and inexpensive. In less than four hours, step from surfing the snow and ice to surfing a legendary area of the surfer's world.

At day's end, enjoy the sunsets along the beach. Watch for the tropical Green Flash as the sun sets. Enjoy mofongo and other local food from eateries along the beach. Sit atop the ridge of mountain and look out across the Mona passage and plan the next day. Party with other surfers and share stories and tips.
