Wind- a potential alternative energy resource in Castle Rock

Did you ever think of harvesting some of that incredible wind here in Castle Rock? Wind energy - a clean, emissions-free power source- is the fastest growing alternative energy resource in the United States, and it is quickly becoming more economically viable with the rebates and incentives currently available.
According to the American Wind Energy Association, “the U.S. leads the world in the production of small wind turbines, which are defined as having rated capacities of 100 kilowatts and less, and the market is expected to continue strong growth through the next decade.”
Now could be the time to find out more about wind energy & development in Colorado at the Alternative Energy conference this Sat. November 14th at the Douglas County Events Center.
Mr. Mike Kostrzewa from CSU Fort Collins will talk on the topic of wind energy and wind turbines; Mr. John Stulp, CO Department of Agriculture Commissioner will talk about large and small wind development for farmers and ranchers; and Dan Pauley, Jefferson County CSU Extension will discuss the financial benefits of carbon credits.

Cost for the program is $20 per person. Registration, including a continental breakfast, on the day of the event begins at 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. Presentations begin at 9:00 a.m. Lunch, provided at noon, will conclude the program.
The program is sponsored by CSU Extension in Douglas County and Arapahoe County as well as the Douglas County Soil Conservation District in Franktown.
