Continental Airlines jumped off the SkyTeam ship after Delta acquired Northwest Airlines and joined forces with United Airlines and the Star Alliance.
Just last week, the Star Alliance welcomed its newest member Continental which will now code-share and cooperate fully with existing Star Alliance members. Star Alliance airlines that operate at Orlando International Airport include United, US Airways, Air Canada, and now Continental. Other airlines such as Air New Zealand, Asiana, ANA, Austrian, Spanair and Egyptair are among more than 15 other carriers worldwide that are members of this global airline partnership.
This new membership in the Star Alliance for Continental Airlines gives greater flexibility to Orlando Star Alliance members. Continental offers non-stop flights from OIA to Houston, Newark/New York, Cleveland as well as Key West, Miami and Tallahassee within the state of Florida. Continental offers convenient Star Alliance connections beyond their hubs to points in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Star Alliance frequent flyer members can earn and redeem miles on all member airlines greatly expanding their ability to earn rewards. Also, Star Alliance airline partners share access to their airport lounges with members of all partner airlines programs.
