Ronni Armstead is a doctoral candidate in cultural anthropology at Duke University. A child of the hip-hop generation, she has published articles on feminism in Cuban rap music in both Meridians and the National Women's Studies Association Journal. She currently lives in New Orleans and is conducting dissertation research, focusing on how aesthetic and political debates about the future of New Orleans encode fundamental social processes. Born and raised in Boston, Mass., Ronni has since lived in Ohio, Cuba, South Dakota, North Carolina and Louisiana.
