Just a few months shy of his 21st birthday, Otto, a cross between a dachshund and terrier is the world’s oldest dog.
The Guinness Book of World Records is recognizing Otto for his great age which is about 145 in dog years.
Lynn and Peter Jones of Shrewsbury, England said they have owned Otto since he was six weeks old.
They said they contacted Guinness after the previous record holder, Chanel, also a dachshund mix recently died at age 21.
The longest living dog ever recorded by Guinness is “Bluey” an Australian cattle dog that was owned by Les Hall of Rochester, Australia.
Bluey was born on June 7, 1910 and died on November 14, 1939 at 29 years old.
The oldest living dog in the 2004 edition of the “Guinness World Records” is Butch, a 27-year-old beagle in the U.S. state of Virginia.
