EarlyWorks Children's History Museum

Looking for something to do with your children on a short day trip? EarlyWorks Children’s History Museum is a great choice. The museum considers itself to be the south’s largest hands-on history museum and children are sure to have a good time learning about history and who knows you parents might even learn a thing or too yourself.

EarlyWorks offers children a chance to touch and explore exhibits to the tune of history. Visitors are able to hear stories from the Talking Tree which is a life size tree that has a face and talks to your children, definitely an attention grabber.

Children can also try out giant-sized instruments at the Alabama bandstand and find out what it feels like to play different types of instruments. For the builder in the family, EarlyWorks has the Kidstruction Zone which gives children the opportunity to use their hands to create.

Children can also see what it is like to dress in the 1800’s by playing pretend in the federal house. There is also a General Store where visitors can trade wares and see what a store was like long ago. There is also a 46 foot Keelboat that visitors can view.

For the smaller child, EarlyWorks offers Biscuit’s Backyard which is a touch and learn play area designed especially for smaller children. Biscuit’s Backyard includes a garden, water table, grocery store and karaoke.

Visitors to the EarlyWorks museum pay only a $10 fee for adults, $8 for Seniors and $8 for Youth. A Toddler pays only $4 and group rates are available. Memberships can also be purchased for a yearly fee which is a good idea for those who live close the museum and would like to enjoy visiting year round. EarlyWorks Children’s History Museum is open year round Tuesdays through Saturdays at 9am to 4pm. the museum is only closed on major holidays.
