Daylight saving time and your newborn's schedule
Who would think that one hour would make such a large impact with a newborn's sleep schedule? Unfortunately, most new parents will tell you that yesterday's
daylight saving time clock reset has play a major impact in their infants sleep pattern. Add to this, the fact that most parents are already struggling with sleep deprivation, and you have one complicated situation.
If your child was already sleeping in sporadic patterns, you may not have noticed a big change. However, those who have worked diligently to establish a solid sleep schedule may be at their wits end. But have no fear - you child will soon adapt to a newly adjusted schedule soon.
Mark March 14, 2010 on your calendar, as this is the date for the next daylight saving time clock reset. Already panicking? Don't be. Keep in mind that six months from now, your newborn will no longer be a newborn and will (hopefully) be sleeping through the night. However, you can minimize the impact of the next clock reset by slowly adjusting your infants schedule 5-10 minutes at a time in the weeks prior to the change.
Remember, babies will adjust to the new schedule - it just takes some time, patience, and maybe a little coffee.
