Famous people confess badly kept secrets

In honor of Clay Aiken's sexual orientation confirmation and Lindsay Lohan-Samantha Ronson dating relationship acknowledgement, here are some other not-so-startling celebrity revelations.  Whether those in the public eye initially used outright denial, deflection, silence, or telling various versions of the same story, people already believed the rumors.

  • Richard Pryor confessed to freebasing cocaine, although he maintained the habit indirectly ignited his self-immolation.
  • Sylvester Stallone touted the age-defying merits of Human Growth Hormone.
  • On a related note, Arnold Schwarzenegger used steroids during his body-building days.
  • Not alone in celebrity denial-to-confession of plastic surgery and eating disorders, Victoria Beckham gets a nod for both categories.
  • Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez stayed mum about twin pregnancies.
  • Star Jones had gastric bypass surgery?
  • Bill Clinton finally said he did have sexual relations with that woman, depending on your definition of sexual relations.

Does the right to privacy protect people who reap benefits choosing a public life?  Or do they owe some details when enquiring minds want to know?

With the fantasy world of fame far removed from everyday life, people file celebrity deception under "Who cares?"  After reading and talking about it, of course.

The Celebrity News Examiner has more current scoop.
