I’m usually the last person in the Pacific Northwest to get on board with fall fashion. I need to see my breath in the air and smell the leaves changing color before I embrace the rich fabrics, textures and colors of my favorite season. I sit patiently, waiting for the perfect, crisp autumn day—usually, in the first week of November—to debut my signature cold-weather style. This year, I’m craving opulent colors like wine, saffron and gold and am enjoying blurring the lines between day and evening attire by pairing preppy basics, like a functional wool jacket, with elegant evening wear. I figure, if the sun is down during most of my waking hours, then I should be able to wear a cocktail dress anytime I want!
