Lots of people will be here---come on by and get in on the fun!

Hey Margaret, get out the plastic light up Santa and dust off the Leg Lamp because it's that time of the year again---It's Christmas-time  in Hampden!
Yesiree!!!

The lighting of 34th Street is the official kick off of the holiday season in Hampden. There will be a celebration of MAMMOTH proportions on 34th Street this Saturday. Tons of people will be flooding the street to see the lights.

The big guy himself will be there---Come get your HoHoHo on!!!

And if you thought it couldn't get any better, there will even be a visit by Santa Claus! He doesn't even come to the lighting of the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon, so I guess he knows how much we love him in Hampden. I don't mean to suggest that I know what the big guy is thinking but I guess he figures he has to come by!

And you know how every time you go out in Hampden you run into people you haven't seen in eons? Well this is one of those times where you see TONS of people you haven't seen in eons! It is the place to see and be seen, so put on your Christmas boots and pull out all your bells and whistles and get on down with your jolly ole self----celebrate the season the only place they do it right---Hampden and 34th Street!

Hampden celebrates Christmas!

So look: instead of hanging out at home watching an old Seinfeld rerun (not that there's anything wrong with that), or playing on Facebook all night long, why don't you put on your running shoes and jog on over to 34th Street to see the miracle----you can see the lights, old and new friends, and maybe you will get a chance to tell Santa what you want for Christmas!

The celebration starts at 5:30pm on Saturday, November 29th. When you're there you can stop in New System at the corner of 34th and Chestnut for coffee and a donut (you should try the butter cream---my personal favorite). And when you are done at the lighting, you can stop by Rocket to Venus, which is right across the street from the bakery. Stop by for a refreshing beverage or a tasty snack and wish Geoff a Merry Christmas!!!

I kid you not when I say I am very, very, excited. This is one of the biggest celebrations in the city and is worth every penny----although it is 100% free!!!! I also want to make a public declaration to let all my friends and family know that I Believe  in Santa!!!!! I want to ask that everyone who believes in Santa Claus post a message here, stating that fact.

(The residents of 34th Street and I would like to inform you that there are people posing as residents of 34th Street and they are soliciting donations to pay the electric bills. These people ARE NOT residents of 34th Street and if you are approached by anyone asking for donations, it is not going to the residents of 34th Street. The residents would like to let you know that they decorate and get no assistance from BGE nor do they receive any donations for their efforts. They do it because they love Christmas and they believe in Santa as strongly as I believe in Santa.)
