The law has caught up with Billy Lane and a judge has sentenced him to 6 years for the deadly crash that killed Gerry Morelock in 2006.
After years of delays and plea deals the sentencing came down today. Billy could have spent a full 9 years behind bars, but it seems he'll do 6, with 3 years probation.
Lane admitted in court that he'd made a mistake:
“I wanted to stand before the Morelock family, to my friends and my family, to the court and the public and say I am responsible for what happened. I don't think it matters if I was going 68 miles an hour or 50 miles an hour. I was in the wrong lane of traffic and I killed Gerry Morelock with a 7,000 pound truck,” Lane said.
As part of the sentencing Billy Lane will never be allowed to obtain a drivers license again.
