Impress These Apes Interview--Rebecca

October 17, 1:36 PM
by Christy Bonstell, Comedy Examiner

Your full name?
Rebecca Marie Marie Eldridge (in the Catholic Church and in my heart)

Age?
36

Why did you audition for Impress These Apes?
I had impressed enough humans, I wanted to try simians.  No, for seriousness, because I never do solo stuff and I work with the same people over and over again (which is wonderful) but I wanted to try something on my own.

What was your fourth challenge?
Sing a song with a live band. My assigned song was “Better Man” by Pearl Jam.

How do you think it went?
Fantastic.  Given that I have no innate sense of rhythm, that I have a hearing loss and a million other excuses about why it’s hard to sing with a live band...it went really really well.  I scored the lowest, but I was so happy with what I did.

What did you think of the other contestants?
Spectacle.  Turncoats.  Ass-kissers. Next question.

What was the audience like?
Jerks except for my fan base.  Who always sit in the back of the theatre so as to leave after I perform.

What are you looking forward to in the competition?
The video challenge.  Having my parents see me dance.

What do you think your strengths are?
I am not a joke teller  or a character-y person....I like sweet, funny, goofy things.  I am strongest when I can find a way to that POV and make it compelling for stage.

What's one word you think sums up your competitive nature?
Omnipresent
