What? ...Where? Right here in Logan Square!
I heard reports today that fortunately the McCain camp may be stepping back a bit from trying to make something of the association between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers after much stirring of the pot. Since Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin accused Obama of "palling around with terrorists," the Ayers connection got some traction once again this week with the disparate likes of Time, NPR and Rush Limbaugh (so I hear).
Former third grader Barack Obama and former Weather Underground man Bill Ayers once served together on the Board of the Woods Fund of Chicago. And at one time Obama chaired the Board of Directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge that granted Ayers' Chicago school reform efforts substantial matching funds.
So where in Logan Square would it be fitting for the 1997 Chicago Citizen of the Year and 1999 UIC Distinguished Professor of Education Bill Ayers to have slept lived? Only on the 2400 block of N. Albany Street,* one of the Best blocks in Logan Square!
