WMUR-TV reports a motorcyclist was killed in Atkinson at the intersection of route 111 and Hill Farm and Lakeside where there is only a flashing intersection light controlling traffic patterns.
According to the report, 47 year old Richard Beaulieu was travelling on route 111 with the right-of-way when a pickup truck pulled out in front of him, causing him to lose control and ultimately collide with the truck.
The article cites officers in Atkinson recall several accidents at this intersection. As a result, the police department will petition the town to file a request with the state to install a fully functional stoplight at this intersection.
Sadly that stop light will be a little too late for our fellow rider. Although our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family and friends of Richard, we must ride on preaching motorcycle awareness and safety across the board.
