Media Release:
On Sunday, August 23, 2009, the Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter (FMAS) will hold their 4th annual Cruisin' for Critters motorcycle ride and fundraiser. Sponsored by Food for Pets, we welcome to include all makes and models of motorcycles. This year the ride will again be a poker run; another fun way to enjoy participating in raising funds that will provide care for Manchester's homeless and neglected animals.
Registration for Cruisin' for Critter will begin at the Manchester Animal Shelter (FMAS), located at 490 Dunbarton Road in Manchester at 9:30 AM with free coffee and breakfast treats. Registration will be completed by 10:30, at which time you will be able to tour the facility, meet the staff and many dedicated volunteers, and interact with the animals available for adoption.
Your tax deductible registration fee is $25 per bike, and $5 per passenger. This fee will also include a lunch ticket. (Group rates are available upon request). Raffle tickets will be available for you to purchase, giving participants several opportunities to win great give-a-aways.
At 10:00 AM, the first group will head out on a journey through some of the area's beautiful summer scenery. There will be maps provided at registration providing the route and predetermined stops along the way where you will have your maps stamped for the poker run. The ride will end at Johnny's Pizzeria and Pub in Hudson. Participants' stamped maps will be collected at the end of the ride and you will be dealt a hand of cards. Participants will enjoy a buffet style lunch, a prize for the best poker hand, and live music at the ride rally in Hudson.
You can also help us raise funds by collecting pledges prior to the event and bringing them with you when you register for the ride. Prizes will be awarded for the most pledges collected.
All proceeds from Cruisin' for Critters will benefit the Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter. Not only do our supporters get to enjoy a relaxing ride and possibly go home with a raffle gift or two, but they will have the satisfaction of knowing they helped support the animals.
