Each year, the Northern New England Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts a ride to benefit the Foundation in its efforts to find a cure for this disease affecting over 30,000 Americans and 70,000 people worldwide. Last year's ride attracted over 800 motorcycles and a huge rally at the conclusion of the ride.

Again, this year's benefit is sponsored by Rock 101, WHEB, and Greg and the Morning Buzz. Fans of the popular morning radio show may recall Greg and Blacksmith rode up from the Portsmouth departure point last year. This is a great opportunity to meet the popular radio personalities and raise money for a very worthy cause. .
There are five starting locations in New Hampshire. American Legion Post #33 in Meredith, American Legion Riders in Rochester, Lee Custom Cycles in Lee, R&R Cycle in Manchester and Harley-Davidson Shop of Rochester. All rides culminate at the Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford for the ride rally.

In addition to riding for a great cause, riders enjoy live entertainment, free barbeque, raffles and more at the rally point. This year, riders will have the opportunity to purchase $100 raffle tickets for a brand new GMC Acadia; only 400 tickets will be sold!
The event is on September 27, 2009, with a rain date of October 4, 2009. Riders unable to participate in the ride but who still wish to contribute are welcome to meet at the Gunstock Mountain Resort at 11:30 AM. Riders are encouraged to pre-register at the event web site, or locate a participting rider and sponsor them for the ride in the event you are unable to attend.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
