Road trip through Nevada

With the summer in full swing, I thought now, would be a good time to write about the preparation for a road trip.

Check List:

Check tire pressure and all your lights.

Make sure you are not due for an oil change

A container with extra gas usually 1 gallon

Small tool kit (key standard/metric wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers etc)

Microfiber cloth and bug spray cleaner for your wind shield to keep your view clear.  Also works on your helmet and visor.

Rain gear (Frog Togs are great and lightweight)

Reflective clothing for night driving.  There are several kinds of reflective tape that you can do-it-yourself.   Reflective gear is VERY IMPORTANT on the road.

Helmet

Eye wear - both for the sun and clear for any night driving

Full finger gloves

Riding boots preferably with Vibram soles, these are resistant to the vibration as well as resistant to slippery/oil surfaces, where you find in parking lots and toll booths.

Long sleeved shirts and long pants

Tee Shirts for warmer days and a sweater for the chilled evenings

A Hat, I like a hat when riding, it covers the helmet head you may get during the riding.

Bungee cords / bike hooks

Sun screen and mosquito repellent

Lip Balm

Compass

Watch

Utility knife

First aid kit

Driver's license

Insurance papers

Maps -  It's a good  idea to map out your route and mark where all the gas stops are.  The distance between each gas stop could make or break your trip.

GPS

Camera

Flash Light with spare batteries

Mobile phone

Chargers for the various electronic equipment

Power adapters

Phone list for everyone in the group as well as their contacts at home

Cash and credit cards

Have an emergency plan in place.  Who is the designated one to go get help if needed.  Flares are also a good idea to have.

Don't forget road etiquette on your journey.

It sounds like a lot, but you can fit it into one saddle bag if folded and/or rolled properly.  To all of you who are heading out on the road, be safe and send me photo's when you get back with descriptions and I'll be happy to share with everyone.
