There are millions of homeless animals living at shelters. With so many, it can prove to be a bit overwhelming to choose the perfect pet for you. So, I have created this regular feature to share with you three very special adoptable dogs in and around Denver. If you see one you like, don't hesitate to contact the shelter or rescue to meet your potential new canine companion. If you don't see one, check back again for more featured animals, or go online to search one out for yourself.

YOUNG DOG
About Doc Isaac: Hi! My name is Isaac. What a perfect puppy! That’s all I hear from my foster family. I guess I am good – I try really hard to have nice house manners, I play well with others and I am really, really good at providing laughs with all my silly puppy antics (my long legs haven’t quite achieved graceful status yet). And some folks have even said I am cute...who am I to argue with that!?

After I was left at a shelter, I wasn’t sure what the future had in store for me. Now with SCSR, my future is bright and I know I will find a wonderful family lucky enough to love me. I have lots of growing to do, so make sure you save a big spot on the couch for me! Apply today and you’ll see – I am a perfect fit for you!

Isaac was born in March 2009, is 60 pounds and still growing! He is up-to-date with routine shots and neutered.

Sex: Male

Breed: German Shepherd

Shelter / Rescue: Snow Capped Shepherd Rescue

ADULT DOG
About Corky: Corky N/M, 2 years, German shepherd/husky mix, 67 lbs Hello there, my name is Corky and I am a 2 year old, 67 lb Sepherd/Husky mix. My story is a sad one. I stayed by my person's side for 5 days after she had died until a neighbor found us. I loved my person so much that I was very confused and sad when I arrived at MaxFund. The one person I loved was taken away from me, so like humans who have gone through this experience, I came to MaxFund grieving for my best friend. I was very lucky to be brought to MaxFund because the volunteers and staff have been so patient with me and I now have gained back my confidence and trust. I am a very loyal and caring pooch, and I know that because of my past experience, I have become a stronger more confident and trusting dog. I love to go on walks with the volunteers and everything is becoming easier for me day by day.....of course a few healthy treats help my trust issues too! I was so lucky to come here because MaxFund always gives their animals a second chance and more! Now I will be able to find a second forever home. I will never forget my first forever home, but as with humans, we all must go on. Please come and visit me so that we can go for a walk and get to know each other. If you are looking for a wonderful and loyal pooch, I may be your best friend forever!

Corky is up-to-date with routine shots and neutered.

Sex: Male

Breed: German Shepherd / Husky (mix)

Shelter / Rescue: MaxFund

SENIOR DOG
About Sable: Sable is a beautiful, well proportioned 8-9 year old Chocolate girl who is delighted to have a second chance in life as a well loved Lab. After a life as a mom of many puppies, she was no longer of use or wanted. She was rescued by a Good Samaritan who found her alone in a yard with little attention or company after her canine companion of many years passed on. In spite of such a life, she’s still got a loving Lab temperament and all who’ve met her remark that she’s a “real sweetheart”.

Sable is housetrained and crate trained. She knows her name, makes pleasant eye contact, is pleased to show off her sit and will politely shake your paw. On the leash she does quite well. Sable is very deferential to people, bonds quickly and is such an affectionate girl. She appreciates and adores attention. Since she was relegated to a life where she was only good for producing puppies, like most rescued females in this situation, she prefers to be the only furry princess about the house.

Affectionate, longing to be loved as a gentle companion and treated like a true princess for the first time in her life, Miss Sable is eager for a loving forever home where she’ll be a treasured member of your family.

Sable is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed.

LIVING REQUIREMENTS: NO CHILDREN

Sex: Female

Breed: Labrador Retriever

Shelter / Rescue: Safe Harbor Lab Rescue
