More Fun Family ‘Off the Beaten Path’ Beach Vacations

Biloxi, Mississippi

You might remember that Biloxi, MS, was a thriving location for family beach vacations before Hurricane Katrina.  Today, Biloxi has improved and rebuilt its family beach vacation appeal.  On your family vacation to Biloxi, after hitting the beach, take the kids to the JL Scott Marine Education Center and Aquarium, Slippery Sam’s family water park or even a boat tour.

Did you take your family to the beach, only to have your family vacation rained on?  Don’t worry – Biloxi boasts the coast’s largest indoor playground at Time In Family Fun Center (you can even drop the kids off and pick them up later) or Biloxi Natatorium, one of the largest indoor swimming pools charging only $1 per visit.  Of course, no visit would be complete without dropping a quarter in the slot machines or playing a hand of blackjack at one of the many casinos. Mississippi offers activities for everyone.

Outer Banks, North Carolina

Imagine wild horses roaming free over the dunes and trails of the Back Country beach. If your family has never taken a vacation on the North Carolina coast, you will be amazed by its beauty.  Visit the lighthouse built in 1796 on Cape Hatteras, or take the kids on a clamming trip on Ocracoke Island.  Surf with your family in the pristine waters, or go kayaking.  Watch birds, hang glide, scuba dive or fish in some of the best angling waters in the world. The Outer Banks is well-known for its wildlife. During your family vacation, visit the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge where your family can tour Pea Island by canoe or enjoy the near-empty beaches.

The next time your family is thinking about a trip to the beach, think about the options in the southeast available to you besides the popular vacation destination. Gone are the days where crowded beaches are the norm.  There are many beautiful beaches in the south that have plenty to offer in the way of family vacation attractions. You just have to know where to look.
