Dry Stone Walls
Dry Stone Walls
Queen City Sand and Stone

Now that the garden is wrapped up for the season, there's time for other pursuits that will make your yard more beautiful and functional. November is a great time of year to build stone walls. The days are cool and crisp, there are no bugs to annoy you, and it's easy to visualize the wall in your yard with all the leaves gone. Plus, in my experience working with stone is very meditative. It's you, the stone, the earth, and little else.

If you've ever considered building a dry stone retaining wall for your garden or yard, but didn't know how to get start, here's a workshop for you. These one-day workshops are very hands-on so you'll walk away with the knowledge to get started.

Here's the details.

What: Introductory Stone Wall Workshop
Who: Charley McMartin, Queen City Sand and Stone
Where: Red Wagon Plants, Hinesburg, Vermont
When: Saturday, November 14th, 2009
Details: This one-day workshop will be offered multiple times thoughout the winter, so if you miss the November 14th meeting, there are other choices as well. The cost is $100.

Go to Queen City Sand and Stone for more details, to register, and see a listing of other workshop dates. Call 802-318-2411 for more information.
